Water level of Ghaggar river increased due to heavy rainfall, threat of flood in Haryana villages
Due to the rising water level of Ghaggar river, flood-like conditions were created in the villages situated around Som and Markanda. This has also affected the farming of the farmers, while the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in the state till August 16. This may increase the water level of rivers and streams. The administration has issued instructions to the people to remain alert.
Due to heavy rainfall in the Shivalik hills, the water level of Ghaggar river has started increasing. A sudden increase in the water level is being recorded. On Monday morning, the flow of water in Ghaggar was 300 cusecs, but on Tuesday it has increased to 2500 cusecs. In such a situation, the flow of water has increased eight times in 24 hours.
Flood risk increased in many areas
Rain water from Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh has started reaching the areas of Jakhal and Sirsa of Fatehabad through Ghaggar river. At the same time, the water level of Som river passing near Sadhaura in Yamunanagar and Markanda river passing through Shahbad in Kurukshetra has now decreased.
Flood like situation had arisen in the villages situated around Som and Markanda and the crops in the fields have been damaged here. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain till August 16.
In such a situation, if there is heavy rain, then the rivers can again overflow. The administration has issued instructions to the people to remain alert.
