The Congress screening committee, which has been brainstorming for four days for the assembly elections in Haryana, has not yet been able to decide the names of the candidates. Now this meeting will go on for two more days, in which panels of candidates will be prepared.

Tickets finalized on two dozen seats
So far, tickets have been finalized on about two dozen seats, including nine sitting MLAs. Out of the 14 seats on which the party has made a single name panel, 13 are old faces who contested the 2019 elections. After preparing single name panels in the screening committee meeting, they will be sent to the Central Election Committee.

In the screening committee meeting chaired by Ajay Maken on Saturday, three dozen seats were reviewed in the presence of Haryana in-charge Deepak Babaria and former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda and other members. Among the single name constituencies of Congress is Rohtak's Garhi Sampla Kiloi seat, from where former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda will contest.

No one else has even applied from this seat in the Congress. Similarly, the names of BB Batra from Rohtak seat, Geeta Bhukkal from Jhajjar, Raghubir Kadian from Beri, Chiranjiv Rao from Rewari, Aftab Ahmed from Nuh, Mohammad Ilyas from Punhana, Rao Dan Singh from Mahendragarh and Induraj Bhalu from Baroda are in the single panel.
