Elderly and disabled people can now vote from home in Haryana elections
Due to the Haryana Assembly elections, voters are being made aware of voting through SVEEP activities in the district. The goal of the district administration is that no eligible person should be deprived of voting, for which every possible effort is being made to make the voters participate in the voting process by providing special facilities.
District Election Officer and DC Abhishek Meena said that the Election Commission of India has decided to provide an alternative facility to Divyang persons having 40 percent or more percentage and elderly persons above the age of 85 years to vote from home.
He said that 40 percent Divyang persons and elderly persons above the age of 85 years will have to fill Form 12D to give their consent to vote from home and apply to the Returning Officer within five days of the start of the nomination process. In such a situation, to ensure that no person above the above is left out from voting, Form 12D is being made available by all BLOs by going door to door.
District Election Officer Abhishek Meena said that if a person wants to vote by going to the booth, then he does not need to fill Form 12D. He said that disabled voters will have to submit a copy of the disability certificate. A list of such voters will also be provided to the candidates if they want to appoint their representatives to monitor the process.
