Preeti Sudan's entire family is involved in the profession. Earlier her father was an HCS officer. After him, Preeti became an IAS while her younger brother Chetan became an IRS. Her younger sister is serving in Chandigarh PGI.

Preeti Sudan, who was recently made the chairperson of UPSC, is a daughter of Dadri. She came to Dadri about 25 years ago to see her ancestral mansion in the city. Her cousin and retired DGM of HAFED, Kapil Bhardwaj, says that till now Preeti Sudan has come to Dadri twice while her family has been living in Chandigarh Sector-7 for a long time. Now all the family members meet each other only during marriage or other family celebrations.

Kapil Bhardwaj said that Preeti Sudan has rarely visited Dadri while her father Omprakash Kumar Yadav spent his childhood in Dadri. Earlier, his family used to live in the old mansion in Rao Mohalla of the city.

Her younger sister is serving in Chandigarh PGI. At the same time, Preeti Sudan's grandfather Uttam Singh Rao was a retired education officer. Preeti's uncle VPS Rao is a retired Chief Editor from Markfed. Her other uncle Hariprakash Rao is retired from the Education Department.

The family is also connected to Sangrur

Preeti Sudan's family has an old connection with Sangrur in Punjab. Earlier, her family used to live here, while after that they also settled in Dadri. Due to being in the job, the posting of her family members was also around the Sangrur area, due to which the family also kept a residence there. At present, his family has been living in Chandigarh Sector-7 for many years.

Ancestors were given the title of Rao during the time of kings and Maharajas
Hafed's DGM Retired Kapil Bhardwaj told that during the time of kings and Maharajas, his elders were given the title of Rao. Due to the gotra being Bhardwaj, family members started adding Rao to their names. He told that after marriage, his elder cousin Preeti started writing Sudan after her name.
