Job of a sanitation worker, hit by unemployment
Call it the desire for a government job among the youth or compulsion, there is competition among MTech-BTech, postgraduate and graduate pass youth even for temporary jobs of sanitation workers. The state of unemployment among highly educated youth can be gauged from the fact that more than 46 thousand graduate and postgraduate youth have applied for the recruitment of five thousand sanitation workers on contract basis by Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam Limited (HKRNL).
Post graduate youth also filled the form for sanitation worker
Rozgar Kaushal Nigam had sought applications from August 6 to September 2 on the portal for the recruitment of sanitation workers on contract basis. The minimum educational qualification required for appointment was only eighth pass, while 39 thousand 990 graduate and 6112 postgraduate pass youth have applied to become a sanitation worker.
Apart from this, one lakh 17 thousand 144 twelfth pass youth have also applied on the portal. The selected youth will be employed in government departments, boards and corporations. Safai Karmacharis will have to clean, sweep and collect garbage in public places, roads and buildings in exchange for a monthly honorarium of Rs. 15,000.
A similar situation was seen last year
A similar situation was seen in July last year when thousands of highly educated youth left their dreams of becoming professors, teachers, engineers and accountants and stood in line for six posts of peon in Panipat District Court.
Around 10,000 youth applied for four posts of general category and one each of SC and BCA. A candidate with nine years of experience after doing MBA also came for interview for the job of peon.
However, the youth running after government jobs argue that they feel insecure in private jobs. Therefore, they do not hesitate to apply even for class IV posts in government departments.
