Khatu Shyam Mandir History

The Khatu Shyam Temple, located in the village of Khatu in the Sikar district of Rajasthan, India, is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Krishna, popularly known as Khatu Shyam or Shyam Baba. In return, Lord Krishna promised Barbarika that he would be worshipped in Kali Yuga (the present age) under the name of Shyam.

After Barbarika's sacrifice, his head was installed on a hill in the village of Khatu, where the present-day temple stands. Over time, the temple gained prominence as a place of worship for devotees seeking blessings, protection, and fulfillment of their desires.

The architecture of the Khatu Shyam Temple reflects Rajasthani style, with intricate carvings, domes, and spires adorned with colorful decorations. The main sanctum of the temple houses the idol of Khatu Shyam, depicted as a young boy with a peacock feather in his crown, holding a flute in his hand.
