It is also the richest cricket league. In such a situation, recently news came out that BCCI is going to launch a league for retired players. In which many old veteran players will be seen participating.
Recently many such leagues have also been seen, but whether BCCI will organize such a league or not, a big statement of BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has come out on this.
Jay Shah dismissed the rumour
Recently, a report claimed that some former Indian cricketers who have played in various T20 leagues around the world had met Jay Shah and requested the board to organize an IPL-like tournament for retired cricketers in the country. But Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has rubbished any rumours of organizing such a T20 league.
Speaking to Times of India, Jay Shah said, 'This is fake news. No proposal has been discussed in this regard. No one has told me about it. However, if such a proposal comes, I don't know what I will do about it.'
Many leagues are being organized for former cricketers
Recently retired players have been seen playing in many cricket leagues. However, all these cricket leagues are not organised by any cricket board.
These include Road Safety World Series, Legends League Cricket and World Championship of Legends. Players like Irfan Pathan, Suresh Raina, Yusuf Pathan, Chris Gayle, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh have participated in these leagues.
Recently World Championship of Legends was played in England, in which teams from different countries played, where the Indian Champions won the title by defeating the Pakistani Champions.
Earlier, a Legends Cricket League was played in India, in which different teams participated like IPL and matches were played in many cities of India.
This cricket league was very popular among the fans and a lot of fighting was seen on the field during the matches. But BCCI is currently in no mood to organize any such cricket league.
