Parole and furlough will be available through digital app
In the coming days, every district will have a digital app, which will contain details of all the 'declared criminals' of the district, the process of granting furlough and parole, complete details of FIR and challan. Parole will also be given to the prisoners through digital app only.
Taking cognizance, the High Court has asked Haryana to explore the possibility of a digital app at each district level, where applications made by all jail inmates for granting furlough and parole can be registered and the process of granting furlough and parole should also be uploaded on that application.
High Court Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Anil Kheterpal have ordered all the parties to respond by September 27. The High Court said that another aspect, which can be considered, is that the digital app can also give details of all the 'declared criminals' of a particular district. Apart from this, the digital app should also have details of the challan presented along with the FIR so that copies of the challan can be taken in the courts at the time of need.
The court said that most of the prisoners in the jail are from the weaker sections of the society and this app can help them to pursue their legal cases for parole, bail etc. The bench has also appointed an amicus curiae in the matter, who will assist the court on the next date of hearing. The bench had taken the decision of suo motu cognizance while hearing a petition filed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) seeking cancellation of parole and furlough granted by the Haryana government to Dera Sacha Sauda (DSS) Sirsa chief Gurmeet Singh.
