The Indian government has implemented various schemes and initiatives to support entrepreneurs and promote entrepreneurship across different sectors. Some of the key schemes for entrepreneurs in India include:

  1. Startup India: Launched in 2016, the Startup India initiative aims to foster entrepreneurship and promote innovation by providing various benefits and support mechanisms to startups. The initiative offers incentives such as tax exemptions, funding opportunities, and simplified regulatory procedures to encourage startup growth and development.

  2. Stand-Up India: The Stand-Up India scheme was launched to promote entrepreneurship among women, Scheduled Castes (SCs), and Scheduled Tribes (STs) by facilitating loans from banks for setting up greenfield enterprises. Under this scheme, eligible entrepreneurs can avail of bank loans ranging from ₹10 lakh to ₹1 crore to establish new ventures in manufacturing, trading, or services sectors.

  3. Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY): The PMMY scheme aims to provide financial assistance to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by offering loans through Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency (MUDRA) to support their business activities and expansion. The scheme offers three categories of loans—Shishu (up to ₹50,000), Kishor (₹50,000 to ₹5 lakh), and Tarun (₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh)—based on the stage of business growth.

  4. Atal Innovation Mission (AIM): The Atal Innovation Mission fosters innovation and entrepreneurship among students, researchers, and startups through various initiatives such as Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) in schools, Atal Incubation Centers (AICs) to support startups, Atal New India Challenges (ANIC) to promote innovation-driven entrepreneurship, and Atal Community Innovation Centers (ACICs) for grassroots innovations.

  5. Make in India: The Make in India initiative aims to promote domestic manufacturing and boost entrepreneurship by attracting foreign investment, fostering innovation, and creating employment opportunities in key sectors such as manufacturing, infrastructure, textiles, and electronics. The initiative aims to transform India into a global manufacturing hub and promote entrepreneurship in manufacturing industries.

  6. National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) schemes: The NSIC offers various schemes and programs to support MSMEs and promote entrepreneurship, including schemes for marketing assistance, raw material assistance, technology support, credit facilitation, and skill development. These schemes aim to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of MSMEs and encourage entrepreneurship in the small-scale sector.

These are some of the key government schemes and initiatives aimed at supporting entrepreneurs and promoting entrepreneurship in India. Entrepreneurs can leverage these schemes to access funding, resources, and support services to start and grow their businesses across various sectors.
