Banks are closed in many cities today
Today is a special day! Ganesh Chaturthi is being celebrated all around country. Many states have declared a for banks. But be careful! In cities, banks are still open. If you plan to visit the bank today, it’s a good to check if it's closed in your area.
Now, here’s a little info: The Reserve Bank India (RBI) decides when banks take holidays. Generally, banks close every Sunday, along with the second and fourth Saturdays. They also shut down for national holidays & local festivals. So yes, many banks are closed today because of Ganesh Chaturthi.
In particular, banks in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, & Goa are closed today. But don't worry! Banks in other places are open as usual.
Looking ahead to September? Banks will be closed for a total of 15 days! This count includes the regular weekly holiday. Some important days when banks will shut include Tirubhava Tithi, Srimanta Sankardeva, First Onam, Milad-un-Nabi, Indrajatra, Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi Day & Maharaja Hari Singh Ji day.
