Startup: Number of startup registrations reaches 1.4 lakh, Gujarat overtakes UP

Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasad said in the Rajya Sabha that the number of startup registrations in India has crossed 1.4 lakh. According to the list of registered startup data released by the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Maharashtra is at the top.
What is the number of startups in which state?
Maharashtra has the highest number of startups in India. There are 25,044 registered startups here.
Karnataka comes second in this list. There are 15,019 registered startups here.
After Karnataka comes Delhi. The number of registered startups in Delhi is 14,734.
Uttar Pradesh is at the fourth position. The number of startups in UP is 13,299.
At the same time, Gujarat is at the fifth position. The number of registered startups in Gujarat is 11,436.
Government is promoting startups
Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasad said that the government is taking several steps to promote startups. To promote startups, the government launched the Startup India initiative on January 16, 2016. This initiative was launched to encourage investment in the startup ecosystem in the country.
Apart from this, the 'Startup India Action Plan' includes 19 action items spread across areas such as "simplification and handholding," "funding support and incentives," and "industry-academia partnerships and incubation."
Atmanirbhar Bharat has also played an important role in promoting startups in 'Startup India: The Way Ahead'. The government has also set up a Fund of Funds (FFS) for Startups with a corpus of Rs 10,000 crore to meet the funding needs of startups. The government has not only provided capital for startups in the early stage, seed stage and growth stage.
