…then I will leave politics

Voting is to be held tomorrow i.e. on 5th October in Haryana Assembly elections. Election campaign has stopped in the state, but the war of words between political parties continues. BJP had accused former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda that during his tenure, government and farmers' land was bought at throwaway prices and given to Congress President Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra.

While talking to journalists in Karnal, Hooda said, I challenge him to give details of the land. The former Chief Minister alleged that BJP is making such allegations to gain advantage in the elections and is spreading false things about Robert Vadra. He said, Congress did not give even an inch of government land to Robert Vadra. I challenge that if BJP shows proof of giving land to Vadra, then I will leave politics.

Major issue of election

BJP came to power in Haryana on its own for the first time in 2014. Even then, the party had made the alleged irregularities in land deals against the previous Hooda government a major issue of the election. Even in the 2024 assembly elections, BJP leaders have targeted Congress over this during the campaign.

In these elections too, BJP has mentioned the land scam on several occasions. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently said during the election campaign in Haryana, brokers and sons-in-law had the upper hand during the Congress rule. Responding to which Robert Vadra had said that it does not befit the Prime Minister to make such a statement. Challenging the BJP, he had said that their government has been in the state for 10 years, get it investigated, and also said that his companies have not done anything wrong.
