Tension increased between UN and Israel

Tensions in the Middle East have increased a lot after the missile attack by Iran. After the attack, many countries including India have requested to exercise restraint. Meanwhile, in a major development, Israel's Foreign Minister accused United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres of having a bias against his country and said that he is banning him from entering Israel.

There was already a deadlock between Israel and the United Nations. But now the statement related to the ban on the entry of the Foreign Minister has increased the sourness between the relations between the two. Foreign Minister Israel Katz expressed his displeasure and said that he is declaring UN Secretary-General Guterres as an undesirable person. Also, he will be prevented from entering Israel.

This ban has been imposed by Israel because UN Secretary-General Guterres has not clearly condemned the major missile attack on Israel by Iran. This announcement by Tel Aviv has further increased the already existing deadlock between Israel and the United Nations.

After the attack, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the growing tension in the Middle East region, although he did not mention any country in it. He said on the social media platform X, "I condemn the growing conflict in the Middle East. It must be stopped. We definitely need a ceasefire." However, Israel managed to largely stop the sudden attack by Iran at night a day earlier with the help of its strong Iron Dome missile defense system and US naval destroyers present there. This attack by Tehran has been carried out after the death of Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the Iran-backed Lebanese terrorist organization Hezbollah, in an Israeli attack on September 27 last month. However, Hezbollah has been continuously firing rockets on northern Israel since the beginning of the war in Gaza. This war in the Gaza Strip started after Hamas and other terrorist groups entered the Israeli border and attacked on October 7 last year. About 1,200 people were killed in that attack.
