What is the dispute between Punjab and Haryana

A dispute has arisen between Punjab and Haryana over the water of Bhakra Dam. Due to this, the series of allegations and counter-allegations is going on from both sides. Regarding Punjab, BBMB has given a decision that it should give additional water to Haryana. On this, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann had said that he does not have additional water to give to Haryana or any other state.

The dispute between Haryana and Punjab over water started when the amount of water being given to Haryana from Bhakra Dam was reduced to 4,000 cusecs. The technical committee of BBMB had decided to release water to Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan on 23 April. Regarding this, the Punjab government says that it had given a limited amount of water to Haryana for humanitarian reasons, but now it is not right to demand additional water.

On the other hand, Haryana's stand is that the water level in Bhakra Dam is high, and if it is not removed on time, then the excess water will go to Pakistan during the rains, which will cause national loss. Saini also said that water is not the property of any one state, but a natural resource on which everyone has a right.
