Haryana: African Delegation liked Haryana's millet
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts to make coarse grains a global brand are now bearing fruit. In this episode, a delegation from South Africa visited the Integrated Horticulture Development Center Sundarh and saw the cultivation of millet in Haryana and got information about the products made from it. The African delegation later also tasted the millet and praised it highly.
This delegation, which came under the India Millet Mission, shared its experiences with the progressive farmers of the district. This tour program was jointly organized by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and the Department of Horticulture.
Incharge of Integrated Horticulture Development Center Dr. Neha Yadav said that the delegation from South Africa was represented by Vivian Ozang. He was accompanied by Dr. Maya, Prof. Yonha Shelty, Dr. Tej and Prof. Hasan Kaya. The delegation was taken on a tour by Dr. Mahavir Singh, Joint Director, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department Haryana and Dr. Hitesh Agarwal, Subject Expert (Horticulture), Horticulture Department Haryana.
Progressive farmers told the methods of millet cultivation
The South African delegation took information about millet crop from 20 progressive farmers of the district at Integrated Horticulture Development Center Sundarh. They also visited the fields of early sowing of millet and saw the crop. Along with this, detailed information was taken about the products made from millet. Farmers told that now dishes made from coarse grains have been included in the canteen of the country's Parliament House. This is a matter of pride for millet producers.
Products prepared by women farmers
Women farmers of self-help groups Bhojavas, Bawania and Sundarh prepared millet products for the delegation. Everyone described the millet dishes as very tasty. At the same time, Dr. Neha Yadav, in-charge of Integrated Horticulture Development Center, conducted a tour of the center and gave detailed information about the activities going on in the center. On this occasion, Deputy Agriculture Director Dr. Devendra Singh, District Horticulture Officer Dr. Prem Yadav, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Dr. Ajay Yadav, Quality Control Inspector Dr. Sanjay Yadav, Subject Expert Dr. Satbir Chauhan, Dr. Yogesh and Dr. Mahavir Sharma were present.
