Flood in Andhra and Telangana
After Himachal Pradesh, Assam and Gujarat, floods and rains have wreaked havoc in Andhra Pradesh as well as Telangana. At least 22 people have lost their lives in rain-related accidents in both the states.
Roads and residential colonies are submerged in many cities. Cars are floating in water. Train tracks are hanging in the air. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the Chief Ministers of both the states and took information about the situation. The Center has also assured all possible help.
Vijayawada and Amravati in Andhra Pradesh are the most affected by the floods. Water has entered people's homes here. In Andhra Pradesh, trains between Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, Guntur and Visakhapatnam, Rayagada and Guntur and Vijayawada and Rajahmundry have been cancelled. Trains from Vijayawada to various destinations including Guntur, Bitragunta, Tenali, Guduru, Kakinadapa Port, Machilipatnam, Ongole and Narsapur have also been cancelled.
Telangana has been receiving heavy rainfall for the last two days. Due to heavy rains, the Palair reservoir in Khammam district has overflowed. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy visited the Integrated Command Control Center and held a review meeting on the status of flood relief operations and damage caused by heavy rains. All schools in Hyderabad have been closed following the warning of heavy rains.
