Railways took back the tender -
MD of Alstom India Oliver Lewison told Moneycontrol that there were problems regarding the money required for this tender. There was a plan to make Vande Bharat train with aluminium body. Meanwhile, Indian Railways has cancelled this tender.
Let us tell you that railway officials have said that the French had demanded Rs 150.9 crore for each train as the tender price. But this price was too high and the railways had asked for up to Rs 140 crore.
Due to this, it was finally finalized that this deal was done for 145 crores. The company had said that it was finalized to talk for 30 crores.
Keeping this cost in mind, it was decided to make Bande Bharat Rakes. Hence, the tender for making each wagon of Bharat Sleeper train at Rs. 120 crore has been finalised.
